What is KNX?

KNX is a control system that was developed to allow products from various manufacturers to function together. It’s the tech equivalent of getting people from different cultures to speak the same language, and to do so flawlessly, too.

So, let’s talk about its applications. Spoiler alert - there are many. It can control all aspects of home and building control such as lighting, heating, cooling and ventilation, blinds/ shutters, security and door communication systems, audio and video, and metering.

So where do our switches come into play?

Our Retrotouch Wireless KNX-ZF Switches are powered by energy harvesting technology and can be installed without cables and batteries, allowing you to stick them anywhere in your home. Our switches convert wireless signals into KNX telegrams, meaning you can control your lighting or open the blinds at just the flick of a kinetic switch. 

Once the switch is pressed, the KNX-ZF module transmits a signal wirelessly to the KNX Media Coupler which then communicates to devices over the Bus System. The switches can be programmed to control any device or any function in the KNX system. These switches don’t need batteries or a power cable, and - in case you were worried - they are as durable and reliable as a traditional wired switch.
